Walking and Talking

We have some new Leighton developments this week! Last weekend she started pulling herself up to the coffee table. Next came the toy box (and to add to the fun, she can now dig into it and throw stuff out). Now nothing stands in her way! Once she mastered that, she added her walker to the mix and can now take several steps pushing her walker. We're pretty sure she'll be a true walker by her first birthday if not sooner. And to totally break her Mommy's heart, she started saying "Mama" last weekend. And she says it over and over and over. She also likes to crawl around looking for me, crying "Mama". This morning I told her to say "hi Daddy" and immediately after, she said "i Daee". I swear! Darren didn't hear it but this is not the first time she has surprised us and said something that seems strange to be coming out of such a little body. But with me as her Mommy, what do you expect?? All these big milestones and the poor thing has been so sick with RSV (respiratory illness). Pretty impressive, don't you think?

Leight had her 9 month (almost 10 mos-bad Mommy!) appt last week and she's 28 1/4" tall and almost 22 lbs. The blond curls are now taking a strawberry blond turn and she's getting more curly everyday. The other big news is that Ellis will officially start preschool in Sept. She was accepted at the Des Moines Science Center Preschool. She gets to go to a really cool place for school and will also get to be in the same class as my good friend Debbie's daughter (they have birthdays 1 day apart). She's so ready for the next step in making friends and learning.

Thank you for the pictures, Julie!
