Today we had the girls' pictures taken by my friend Debbie. We were hoping for good holiday photos as well as Leight's 7 month pics. Glad Darren got this one of Ellis early on before we left as this was the only one of her I think we got in her outfit.

Our Girls

Last night was trick or treat night in Des Moines. The great thing with little ones is you hit a few neighbor's homes and you're done but the bad news is Darren and I didn't have a lot of sweets to gorge ourselves on last night (this might sound mean of us but Ellis doesn't like candy at all!). We went to put Leight in her mermaid costume and she was like a stuffed sausage in it and couldn't even get it zipped. Therefore, we put her in Ellis' costume from last year and she looked so darn cute we couldn't quit laughing (and at the expense of our poor daughter!). Hope you have a great Halloween!

We're very lucky right now considering it's the last day of October and it's in the 70's. Trying to get in every last trip outside and to the park we can as the inevitable is just around the corner! Here are a few pics from last weekend's trip to Brook Run Park near us.

Last Saturday we went to a local organic farm with our friends Chris and Becc Aust (along with their twins Landen and Lauren). It was an interesting experience. We got a lecture by the very nice Indian farmer who owns the Co-op farm about the importance of eating local, vine ripened food (true) but said we also needed to live like peasants (not so true). Darren said he quit listening to him when he got to the "peasants" part. Ellis got to see lots of farm animals like ducks, lambs, goats and a cute puppy (most of which lived in their yard-quite peculiar). Afterwards we grabbed lunch together (not at the farm!). Gotta love an 80 degree day in mid-October. And note to self...no more organic farms for awhile. Chris will never let me live it down but 2 yr olds are easy to please :)

It was the annual Hastings'/Gibbons' day at the pumpkin patch. We had such a great time and look forward to the trip all year. The kids just love this place. It was an absolutely beautiful October day as well.

Daddy & Ellis

How tall is Ellis this year? Well, we didn't find out as she was to busy eating popcorn to pay much attention to the height measuring thing.
