Last night, getting tickles from Daddy and jumping on the bed (and yes, this Mommy & Daddy let their kids jump on the bed).

"I'm most likely eating something off the floor (not to say my Mommy's floor isn't spotless!) or pulling stuff from inside the cupboards or getting into my sister's art supplies (especially crayons as they are fun to throw) or trying to reach stuff on the kitchen table or making a break for the stairs or chewing on someone's dirty shoes or finding Mommy's handbag and rummaging through it and then chewing on stuff and throwing it around."

One happy birthday girl!

Opening her first birthday pressie!
(notice Ellis' outfit--an undershirt and winter tights-she refused to let us put anything else on her and it was nearly 80 degrees)

(Ellis would not be happy about this)

Special birthday breakfast of mini pancakes with whip cream and fresh strawberries and a candle to top if off!

The weather has been beautiful so we got to spend time outside after we got home and Leight got to enjoy her new swing from Grandma & Papa Taggart

Leighton's Birthday Cake

Pressie and cake time!

One last present and off to bed...

The year went by way to fast and we can't believe our baby is 1!

A neat, clean & decorated house (whew!) all ready for the guests
A cake fit for a Princess or two!
Daddy helping Ellis dry her newly polished pink fingernails
Lots of balloons (by the request of Ellis)
The menu included finger sandwiches, veggies & dip, fruit kabobs, and raspberry sherbet punch plus, of course, Princess cake and 4 kinds of homemade ice cream

With an 80% chance for rain, we moved the outdoor activities into the garage--and then it turned out to be beautiful with only a few sprinkles early in the afternoon

Another attempt at a family photo (and one of these days we will accidently get Ellis looking and smiling for the camera!)

Cake Face

So you're probably thinking we only take pictures of Leighton when she's eating. you might have noticed a strange "food" trend if you follow our blog site. Well, it just so happens, we do take a lot of eating photos. But listen, our baby really, really likes to eat and makes a BIG mess out of every single meal and it makes us laugh really hard, then we snap away and can't stop ourselves from sharing. She'll probably hate us for it someday...

Good Morning Birthday Girl! Special birthday breakfast of mini-pancakes with whip cream and fresh strawberries...
and of course a candle and a round of "Happy Birthday" to kick-off her day!
Sitting sort of patiently waiting to open her first present--she got 2 before Julie's and 2 before birthday cake tonight.
Showing off her new play cupcakes for her kitchen and her big fake smile!
A new baby high chair from Mommy & Daddy (and this one she can't sit in and break like the previous one)
Waiting in anticipation to blow out her candle
Blowing out the candle on her cake...
and Daddy's gluten-free cake :)
Mommy's baby is growing up (said with total meloncholy!)
